County Championship - 2005
Wisden summary: The 2005 County Championship produced the tensest dogfight for many years, with more than half the teams in the first division harbouring at least vague hopes of the title until late in the season, while at the same time having to look over the shoulder to ensure the alternative was not relegation. But in the closing stages Nottinghamshire emerged from the pack. Their final winning margin was just two and a half points, making it theoretically the closest finish since Worcestershire's one-point win over Kent in 1988.
