"Tasmania's maiden first-class trophy was almost obscured, for most of the mainland, in a summer when Australia breezed to Ashes and World Cup whitewashes," stated Wisden in the aftermath of what they described as an "uplifting tale". It took Australia's smallest state 30 years to nab the title in thanks to future Test Captain Tim Paine (in the years before his major transgression and the writing of his aptly named biography, The Price Paid, along with Di Venuto and the arrival of Ben Hilfenhaus.
