The Ashes - 2009 - A Gripping Summer
Following the horror of the 2006-07 whitewash in Australia, England bounced back, winning a series almost as gripping as 2005. Sadly, hidden behind the paywall of television broadcaster, Sky, the 2009 edition kept a much lower profile with the general public than that magical summer of ’05.
None-the-less, for aficionados (and Sky subscribers) 2009 ebbed and flowed magnificently until the very end when England set Australia a monstrous and ultimately unachievable last Innings score. End result, a classic win for a once more dominant England against a "new" Australian team trying to find itself.
Much more was to come in the next Ashes from England.
